It would seem that all the 3 nations(Armies) experienced more or less the same level of losses

Unfortunately it's not a true comparison - the Pz III is out of scale. The "photo" is made from 3 different pictures, 1 for each tank and the background. The Pz III in the picture was probably pictured being unloaded from a ship, look at it's right tank. It's the 40's equivalent of a photoshop special.

No, you'll find the Sherman is quite a bit taller than a PzIII.

Is this absolute numbers of tanks, MK, or numbers of tanks in armored divisions?

It is a straight listing of the culmlative numbers of vehicles in each Unit from the day it landed. Thus for The US by Aug 7th the total strength of all the Tanks and TD's landed came to 3763. It is a theoretical 'full strength' number from day 1. They never again (for the US at least)achieved 100% of the official numbers. Despite the much vaunted Sherman production numbers the US experienced a severe shortage of Shermans by late 1944. Britains numbers 'slipped' because they disbanded some Units to re-inforce others.

I'm coming into this thread late to add my "penny's worth" of remembrance.

As an ex Ack Ack man who was posted willy nilly into the RAC, I found myself in December '44 at an RAC Training Depot at Rieti, in the exact centre of Italy.

It was a hotbed of rumours and mis-information and certainly we were all pre-warned about "Ronsons" & "Tommy Cookers" to the extent that I'm sure that half of the trainees were reluctantly convinced that they would not last for long if posted to units that used the dreaded Shermans.

I am soberly reminded that at the same camp when I revealed that my brother Jack was an Air Gunner in Bomber Command I wax instantly offered the news that "he would be lucky to last three months".

In actual fact my dear, much missed, brother was to be shot down and killed over Nuremberg on the night of the 15th of March 1945
