Just seen it on Sky news. I wish I'd have known about it earlier. I could have popped up and seen it. I went to the Dewent reservoir late last year, there is some good walking country around there with some stunning views.

Aye. Brave lads indeed. And Richard Todd laying the wreath? Most fitting indeed.

Great stuff on that BBC link, seeing the BBMF machine soaring around like that... always so much more agile than I imagine.
(I feel sorry for the chaps being interviewed, who obviously would rather be watching the skies than talking to the beeb.)

Is anywhere showing any film of the modern RAF jets alongside the Lanc as mentioned there?

Cheers,
Adam.

Link here to BBMF display dates. I shall be seeing them at the Southend Airshow on the Bank Holiday weekend. Southend - Airshow? I hear you say. Good family day out with normally a really good flying programme

They flew over my workplace today but I was stuck inside bloody working!

Fitting Tribute indeed. What a fantastic feat.
Bless those that never came home.

We had a squadron commander who believed in the head-on attack. 'The next raid we go up to intercept, we will do a head-on attack,' he said. So he attacked an Me 110 head-on and I'm afraid Jerry got the better of him and all we found of him was his shirt! Flying Officer Harold Bird-Wilson, 17 Squadron.
