Battlefield tours in Normandy?

Hi guys,

Later this year I am going to the Normandy area but I am only going to be there for 3 days...

Now I know that there is no way I will get to see EVERYTHING especially driving around myself so I am planning on booking 2, 1 day tours.

Are there any tour companies you guys can particularly reccomend...or particularly reccomend I steer clear of (PM those ones for obvious reasons!!).

I have read a few good reviews of Battlebus Tours - Homepage Has anyone ever been on a tour with these guys? What was it like? I would like to do the Band of Brothers tour and the British Experience..

Thanks for all the advice guys!!

Cheers

James..

If you do decide to go? And if you get to the sword Beach area, I would be deeply obliged if you could do something for me at the "Hillman" site, or Hermanville war graves cemetery

Great. Will you place a wreath, or a few flowers at Hillman, or in the center of Hermanville Cemetery for me please. In memory of my fallen friends.
I can send the money before you go, or after. when you are back here, and know how much it cost.
Cheers and thank very much. I am unable to go myself through the war injuries. let me know how you would like the payment if you PM me later with your address. I will post it to you.
Sincerely
Sapper

Hi James. I'm also planning on going on a D-Day tour and after scrawling through various sites I decided that battlebus is the one I'll probably go with. Situated in Bayeux, not far from Omah beach and the prices look reasonable too. Although I can't recommend first point as I haven't been myself yet, but I'd say that so far they're probably the best.

I won't be able to get there for a while so if you go with them, will you let me know what they're like?

Cheers
Marcus

Sapper,

Do not worry about about the money I have no problem with buying some flowers and paying my respects to your pals!!

Marcus69x....The battlebus website certainly sells it to me more than other companies do. There seem to be hundreds of tour companies in the area and some of them do not have a bio of their guides and some even had some pretty big errors in the info on their sites!! I have seen battlebus mentioned in a few places but havent yet been able to find a first hand review of them.

Hi James When we toured the beaches in June of 2005 we used a tour company called Leger Holidays. We started our tour in the UK and were bused to France. Cannot say enough about how well were were treated. The guide was excellent and we stay in touch with him still.
Good luck on your trip. Cheers George

Oh I wonder you that could be?
I was Reed-ing a PM from him earlier today.
He ought to get a proper job not swanning around on a permanent holiday visiting battlefields all the time.
OK I'm jealous, maybe I should've done an History A level and not bloomin Art.

Leger do indeed do tours of Normandy, but they are not much use for those who are already 'in country'. I would go with Battlebus; I have no hesitation to recomend them based on what I have seen of their operation. Feedback I get on them through my site is always very good as well.
