![]() ![]() | Paul - I note that you are planning a return trip to Italy this year - hopefully you will be extending your last visit to Urbino and your visit to Coriano Ridge - Gradara etc - if you can try Ancona - Gurkha at Rimini -Montecchio - Cesena as some of our lads of 21st Tank bde are there - Ravenna where the Canadians are also there as well as Coriano- most visitors head for Cassino and Anzio - quite rightly but the other areas can use a few visits like Assisi - Orvieto - Arezzo - Florence - Castiglione where the Sth Africans are - too many cemetery's I know but they could all use visits |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Hi Tom - we are mainly doing the 'central' area` this time - Anzio, Cassino, Minturno etc. We won't be going up to Urbino on this trip - am aiming to do that next time.

![]() ![]() | Paul - If you have a few minutes at Anzio - pop into the Church of Many Graces at Nettuno- it's just off the beach - where you will see an excellent piece of history - it is a Madonna and Child above the main altar which was sent out from the U.K. at the beginning of the Reformation for safety to Naples - the ship was sunk and the statue washed up on the Nettuno beach and was promptly installed in the church - in the crypt is the tomb of the Saint Marie Goretti whose killer appeared at her canonisation by Pope Pius X11 in the 50's after he was released from prison - the killer I mean ! ! I recall our visit there in 2000 - vividly - as when my wife was coming out of the Church - she slipped - fell and broke her tib and fib - we flew back to the U.K. for surgery before finally flying back to Canada - took a whole year to get 100% once more ! |
