Overall, an excellent trip; nice to spend some time with the family, weather was best we'd had in years, and the Gite we had was superb. I've come back with some new books, plus several bottles of Calvados and Normandie cider to see me through the winter months!!

Will be updating my website with new/updated info in the near future.

Kjaersgaard will become famous soon enough
Some really great pictures. I've recently returned from a trip to Normandy too. It also seemed rather strange to me how Wittmann's grave at La Cambe was 'shined' up.

Welcome Back Paul, glad you had a good time, very jealous about the Calvados, I was over at the weekend to do some gardening at Chateau Steve, didn't get time to get any calvados, only managed the one bottle of cider which went in an evening

Steve

Lovely images Paul.
Where was this one taken, the one with the cows in the field?
Image it in '44 with them, on their backs, swollen up with legs in the air

Paul, which Bn of the Hampshire was Ferrell in?
is he one of "my" Wessex lads in 7th Bn or 1st Bn in 50th Div?

Hi Owen - that's the church in the tiny village of Rubercy, a few miles inland from Omaha and not far from where I was staying. We passed that view almost every day, and stopped for a pic-nic there one day, which is when I took the photo. I thought it was a typical Normandy scene - and yes, you can picture some very different scenes there in '44.

Ferrell was 7th Bn and killed in the attack at Cahagnes in Op Bluecoat.
