![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Hope you have a good tour, we did Dunkirk last October, there are some photos around of my trip on the site somewhere. I take it you've read , Dunkirk Fight to the Last Man. By Hugh Sebag-Montefiore? Excellent book. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | I also recommend the Official History - "The War in France and Flanders 1939 - 1940" by L.F. Ellis and "Destination Dunkirk" by Gregory Blaxland. Sebag-Montefiore seemed a little sensationalist for my tastes and in order to obtain the level of detail that he wanted, he had to be rather selective resulting in a loss of a general overview. My Dunkirk visit will have to wait until 2010 and I'm going to start at the River Dyle. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Here's a link to the photos I took last year. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/travel-...er-2006-a.html Maybe try this book, Amazon.com: AN ACTIVE SERVICE: The Story of a Soldier's Life in the Grenadier Guards and SAS 1935-58: Books: Richard Dorney the first part tells of his time with The Gren Gds holding the perimeter at Dunkirk. ![]() | I want to go to Dunkirk. My father came back from Dunkirk, he was in the RAMC. I went with Leger on the All Quiet on the Western Front tour a few weeks ago, and maybe I shall go on the Leger tour to Dunkirk next year. A few weeks ago, I kept seeing a signpost to Dunkerque, and I felt the two world wars coming together, if you see what I mean.
