Hi UKSubs
How many days are you intending to stay?
If you could squeeze in one extra day then a trip to Cassino would provide a life time of thought provoking memories.
Further info on request.
Ron

ps
The Main railway station in Rome has a cracking (and cheap) buffet

Are you driving while in Rome?
If not, the train goes to Cassino at least every half an hour, it's a pleasant comfortable trip lasting two hours then it's taxis between the Cemeteries and the Monastry itself.
If you think you might go I will dig up all the info I made ready in 2005

Go to the station the previous day before travelling, get tickets & times.
Catch a train about 8:30 which will get you there before 11:00
Get a taxi (see card) and arrange a price to take you to the Monastry and wait half an hour or so (you could fit in the Polish Cemetery as well).
Finish up at the British Cemetery and arrange for your taxi to collect you afterwards.
You can be back in Rome by 5 pm in time for other matters.
