Smile Normandy visit

Found my USB lead!! (well I was exited about it)
Not much of a snapper, but here are a few pics from our recent visit, although it makes it look as if we only visited Gold!

All the best

Nice pictures! Weather looks like it was good; was that last weekend? I was up in Northern France and it was pretty good for late October.

Hello Paul.
21st and 22nd. Got a bit soggy on the Sunday, but we were very lucky. Thanks again for the tips.

I would recommend The Battle of Normandy Memorial Museum in Bayeux (opposite the War Cemetary) to everyone. Very good. Just the right mix of information and display. The museum at Pegasus Bridge was very good too, and also at Arromanches.

It was all very moving and thought provoking (as a walk round a museum or a cemetary so often is) but well worth the long drive. We are now planning to go to Holland in the Summer to visit some more battle sites. May call on everyones expertise again then!

Hi Millsy - pity you never had the chance to see the Bayeux Museum as it used to be; it was a million times better than the one there now.

If you need any info for Holland let us know; good place to start is here:

Nice pics Millsy,
Whilst you were doing Normandy 1944 that weekend I was doing Dunkirk 1940.
Thanks for sharing.

Cheers. Strange you say that. The owners of the guest house we stayed at said the same thing; but of course we had no previous visit to compare it with. Still, enoyable all the same.

Thanks for the new link.

51highland will become famous soon enough
If you are going to Holland, try and get there 4th & 5th May, Commemoration Day & Liberation Day. You will have a sad time & great time. Lot of veterans about then as well.

Thanks Owen D and 51 highland.

Cheers for the suggestion, but my wife is a teacher, which means: No cheap off peak holidays ever again! It will be summer holidays.

Any pictures or recommendations of places to visit for Dunkirk Owen?

Remind me when you go to Holland. My war finished there, between Overloon and Venraij.....A place of great sadness, the Molen Beek.

Didn't get to visit Furnes in-depth but will do another time.
(Dave) "Croonaert" is the man for recommendations on the 1940 campaign.
