I picked one up locally just the other day.. The Story of the 2nd Battalion The Sherwood Foresters 1939-1945 by Captain John W.A. Masters. Published by Gale & Polden Aldershot 1946. Just one chapter of five pages about France.

 

Finally ordered a 1st Edition HB copy of 'The Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire Light Infantry Chronicle, vol 1: September 1939 - June 1940 by J E H Neville.

A snip at £90 I thought.

The last one is no good - There wasn't a REME in 1940

 

Tricky... I've pulled a few off the shelf and the best of them seem have around forty-or-so pages of BEF goodness, with no guarantee that it's an advance on the war diary.

I remember being pleasantly surprised by the King's Own history as it covered the converted units including 'their' A/Tk regt at Cassell.

 

Ah yes, wasn't it Churchill who said: "Before REME there was never a victory; after REME there was never a defeat", or something like that?
