Agree about the waffle stab which is presumably part of the original 70's construction. Seating definitely reduced and the dining tables next to the toilets are not particularly appetizing either.
I was thinking of a Japanese cafe with waitresses dressed as cats. And that was before I read this thread...
Andy, Salon Kitty was a brothel in Berlin ran by the SS during the 1930's. The rooms were bugged to listen into the indiscreet conversations of the clientele consisting of businessmen and diplomats. Or did you think I was referring to a hairdressers?
fantastic insight Cl1... I'm already worried about my first visit in October. but this helps me no end! thank you a thousand times over!
Hi All, I've just realised that my Readers Ticket is about to expire. Can I pre-order documents with my old card in advance of visiting to renew?
off on my first visit tomorrow. They've not responded to any of my email requests for info or advice, so it will just have to be a visit of discovery! thanks all for the hints and tips. (see anyone there?)
Good luck tomorrow. The tips in this thread should square you away for most of the main things. The most important things for a first visit is having the correct ID to get your Reader's Ticket and not upsetting security. Sorry I'm not there tomorrow, otherwise would have got you a brew. Lee
what an amazing two days! I was certainly a little daunted at the prospect, but armed with the hints and tips here, all went very well! the place is incredible, the staff all friendly and helpful. once you have your ticket and know the routine, you can do loads in the time. I was mainly looking at POW records, which are a real pain to sort through in any speed, but managed to get about 20% done in the two days. it's a frustration that many of the officers didn't bother or thought it was beneath them to write up the reports, but the mens ones made good reading. thanks all and see you all there another day. best regards Iain
