Regarding LT Mackenzie he escaped from Oflag 8 F Liegnitz with Major R.A Wadeson M.C Royal Engineers. It appears both were executed some time after they were recaptured. Have been informed by CWGC that it appears that his remains were later exhumed & cremated. At present where the ashes went to is unknown. Therefore his commemoration will remain on Brookwood.

Fascinating, Chris. Woodhouse Cemetery - Wikipedia I assumed that CWGC burials had to be exhumed if they could no longer be marked. The graves were only twenty-five odd years old when they were covered. Lots of living relatives at that time, I would think.

I see that they have finally recognised that Captain Douglas Ridley is buried in Martindale Churchyard. It has taken some time to go through the process. I thought they were going to include that he had been awarded the Military Cross in WW1? Thanks for your assistance with this, Chris.

Hello Chris I assume they will place a special memorial there as per the other casualties. That cemetery which has a footpath running through had all the headstones moved to the sides of the cemetery. regards Clive
