Hello. Does anyone out there have a Nominal Roll for 6 CHESHIRE at anytime during the period Nov 43-May 44? They had to be submitted by the Adjutant and are found buried away in the Battalion's War Diary for that period. The Roll gives numbers of Other Ranks across the rank range and specifically names all officers. Any help would be appreciated. Regards Frank
Frank, this may be something that may have crossed your mind? It may be wise to contact Richard Fisher, or Gary tankard. I don't have anything on that machine gun regiment. Not a cheap Regimental History to buy. Never mind the War Diaries. Edit. Surely Richard should have the answers. Regards Stu.
Hi Frank, There are no Nominal Rolls in any 6 CHESHIRE WD from 1942 -1945. The closest is this list of officers and Sergeants embarking for Italy on 11th of July 1944 as they left Egypt. "A" Coy had converted to 4.2 in mortar while there. Cheers, Gary.
Gary. Wow, a terrific find. It does not mention an officer named Newman so I will have to try the Regimental History. Many thanks. See you in Apr 18 for the Gothic Line trip. Regards Frank
