201496 Travers Charles Melville TABARER of 107 South African Reserve Mechanical Transport Company who died of illness while a POW on 7/7/43

Captain Taberer was awarded his DSO in WW1 while serving with the Hampshire's - the citation is as follows - LG 23 April 1918 - "For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in command of his company after the company commander had been killed. Seeing, however, that part of the company detailed for the final objective had become disorganized owing to heavy casualties, on his own initiative he led forward his own company and captured and consolidated the final objective."

    Hi

    Hi Alistair,

    Thanks again for sharing.

Think error on this one? McElroy questionnaire but Dixon pay book?

Also "Papering" location of capture shown on Grebby post is likely Poperinghe, Belguim. On his questionnaire Grebby spells his capture location as "Poppering".

    Regards

    Steve Y
