    Hi David,
I'm an Italian Military History Researcher, and I'm conducting a study about the Anzio landings.
So I am pretty much interested into the 1 KSLI's WD. If it is not a problem for you I kindly ask you to send me the link of that document.
    I thank you in advance
    Kind regards

    John, it's the wrong battalion.
In your PM to me you mention the 1st Herefords, they were TA affiliated to the KSLI.
This thread is about the 1st KSLI, a Regular battalion.
    1 KSLI weren't in the Netherlands .

    John,

I sent you a link for the 1st KSLI war diaries, but as Owen pointed out the 1st KSLI were in Italy not NW Europe. As stated your man was in the 1st Herefordshire Regiment.

  11. Hi Dryan67. Would it be possible to also get a copy of the War Diary for the 1st King's Shropshire Light Infantry, please? I have tried to find out as much information on them as possible but seem to always come up short with the War Diary. I even visited Shrewsbury and National Archives this week in a hunt for it! My Great Grandfather was a POW after being captured on/around 30th June 1940 at St. Valery. He was acting as Lance Corporal as a Dispatch Rider. He was shot in the head and in the hip but managed to survive! He was repatriated in November 1943. Thank you for taking time to read this.

    1). Hospital Fe Camp
    2). Stadtroda Res Laz
    Camps;
    1). Stalag XXI A
    2). Stalag IX C

I struggle to make sense of all the cards that I found whilst at the National Archives and Shrewsbury to be honest, but that is what I can kind of make out.

I only have the war diary for 1944 for the 1st KSLI. I have a regimental history of the regiment as well as a separate history of the 1st KSLI. Neither mentions your great grandfather. Based on his date of capture, he was probably with the Reserve Company, which was not capture until 12th June. The rest of the battalion was evacuated at Dunkirk by June 2nd. I have attached two pages from the 1st KSLI history regarding the Reserve Company. This does not confirm that he was with this group but his capture date makes it feasible.

  14. Thank you. I don't want to highjack this thread with my own research so have created my own threat in the General Tab called 'Herbert Glindow Adams'. I hope you might be able to help me on there? I also just purchased the book that you have kindly took a photo of, and like yourself, cannot find any mention of him in there. I noticed you said that he was probably with the Reserve Company, but I wonder why his name is the only name in the Missing and /Captured list's associcated with the KSLI if the whole company was captured on 12th June?
Thank you for any help anyway :)
