The Holiday's have come EARLY Enjoy, at least four (4) new Indian Div histories that I've never seen before...snag 'em while you can! Internet Archive Search: creator:"War Department, Govt of British India" BTW, I am STILL looking for the Official Histories of the N.W. Frontier in the 1930's (2 vols) If some has copies to share (.pdf pref), I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks to Andrew sending me the individual pdf files for the 23rd Indian Divisional History - The Fighting Cock, I have created a single PDF of the history. If anyone is interested in a link to download the history, please start a personal conversation with me with your email and I will send you the download link. David
Charley, I hope you were also able to snag some of the books from the link I posted above earlier today also! Andrew
Thanks Andrew. I notice these books were only uploaded to the Internet Archive on 5 August 2018, so very recent additions. Hopefully they will remain there permanently Regarding the Official Histories of the NW Frontier in the 1930s, I have recently written to the Editor of the PAHAR website MCADD-PAHAR, requesting that these volumes be added to the PAHAR website. At the time of writing this post, my request has not appeared on the PAHAR website, so I do not know what the response will be. However this website does have similar type volumes for other periods, so hopefully they will try and locate them even if they cannot currently do so. Cheers Maureen
I'm still looking for these: Frontier Force regiment (12 rgt) FRONTIER FORCE RIFLES 1849 - 1946 - Naval & Military Press Anonymous. History of the 5th Royal Gurkha Rifles (Frontier Force), volume II: 1929-1947. Aldershot: Gale and Polden, 1956 Ahmad, Rifat Nadeem and Rafiuddin Ahmed. Unfaded Glory: The 8th Punjab Regiment 1798-1956. Abbottabad, Pakistan: Baloch Regimental Centre, 2007 Abhyankar, M.B. Valour Enshrined: A History of the Mahratta Light Infantry, 1768-1947. New Delhi: Orient Longmans, 1971 :-(
I found the latest books by pure, blind, dumb luck (though I was searching w/in general subject parameters). The first one I stumbled upon was the Arakan one, which I thought was just a section of an already posted book, but a bit of clicking and checking led me to the miniature goldmine I shared here. It was the very least I could do after everyone here has been so generous in providing me with information. I hope you snagged a copy of "The Fighting Cocks" too. There is still that one book called "The First Vietnam War" which concentrated on the British occupation and securing of Indochina until the French could return in force. I had a physical copy of it, but had to sell it during my divorce. Many people have pointed out other books with similar titles, but this one was very subject and time frame centric, from 1945-47. I hope I can find it again one day in the not too distant future, either digi or physical. Andrew
Ah Hah! I found it. First Vietnam War - Peter Martyn Dunn....very good book. I know there is a thesis by the author that was turned into the book, if someone knows how to snag it, that would be great for all of us. Andrew
Available at Archive.org Valour Enshrined : Not Available : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive This book is available on the Archive.org Lending Library The first Vietnam War : Dunn, Peter M : Free Download, Borrow, and Streaming : Internet Archive Only one person at a time can read it, and you read it online. There may be limited downloads available for some books, but they aren't permanent. You need to register before you can borrow. Cheers Maureen
Great, Thanks for finding it (I only remembered the title/author last eve). Already registered w/Archive too, but the read online part...that means I have to sit in front of my PC or can I use my Kindle/Nook?
BTW, it was while I was futzing around yesterday and found the Arakan lead the I did run across a number of Indian Army regimental histories that included WW2. I've been running around like an idiot today, but once I cool off (or at least no later than sometime tomorrow), I w/do my best to go snag the links to those tomes for everyone here!

Official History of Operations on the NW Frontier of India fold3 (located in World War2/Military books/India). Consists of 2 books. Available on fold3 The Frontier Force Rifles Fold3 Browse Cheers Maureen
Thanks Maureen, I read the terms and conditions and it seems if I accidentally "shared" a page or more of a book I downloaded, I could be in trouble. Unless someone knows differently. Andrew
FYI...Tom Cundiff had been recuperating for quite awhile after a major shoulder operation, along with working on getting playtest files of a game completed for Legion Wargames and a few other things. HOWEVER...the GOOD News is that he is now converting the jpg files of "“Happy Family: The Story of the 20th Indian Division” into a complete .pdf document and it should be ready in the very near future. When it is, I'll create a folder for it in my Dropbox account and those of you who are interested can ask me for a copy (unless there is a more central and easier way of doing this). Andrew
