If GSW = Gunshot wound does SW = Shrapnel wound ?

Agree with Stu regards WIA , wounded in action.

This chap has been wounded in the backside. Is it the left, or right buttock? Poor chap may well have not been able to sit on chair for a while. Not something I'd would have liked to have injured . Rich Payne may have a copy of Jervois's book?

By using the link section of the site [http://ww2talk.com/index.php?pages/Links/] there is access to all sorts of things and one of those is

    Hospitals WW2 - Scarlet Finders

    67 British General Hospital
Bridge of Earn 4/42 to 11/42 then overseas; Philippeville 7/43 to 2/44 then to Naples; Naples 2/44 to 4/45 then to Ghent; Ghent 4/45 to 6/45 then to Rendsburg; Rendsburg [list says 'Rensburg'] 6/45 to 18/9/46 then disbanded.

This chap has been about. I will get around to posting the pages that I've scanned. It may take some time if I've got to resize them?
Please do contact me. It would be easier for me to e-mail you the pages. Weekends would be better for me.

I've struggled to follow this thread a little but if you're looking for an account of the activities of 5th Battalion, The Northamptonshire Regiment on or around 7th April 1943, does this help ? (From Jervois).

TD - I first thought Philippeville 7/43 to 2/44 but the entry is dated 13.4.43 so I'm a little confused?

Owen - I shall PM you

Rich - They are really helpful thank you,

Confusion is part of the game

"Bridge of Earn 4/42 to 11/42 then overseas; Philippeville 7/43 to 2/44 then to Naples"

Where exactly this hospital was on or around April 1943, is something at the moment no one actually knows so all we can do is say from Nov 1942 until Feb 1943 is say the hospital was in North Africa, most probably Algeria. It may have stayed as a hospital afloat for a while. Maybe there are records or diaries that could explain this gap exploring thos p[ossibilities will be interesting for you.
Part of research is knowing that there will always be holes in the story, some can be filled later as more information becomes available, some will never be filled.
So far you have a lot of details, in my fathers records I have nothing from July 1942 until March 1945 so I just have to accept that I will never lnow exactly where he was or with which unit(s)

I'm seeing the 2nd battalion first. How can two different laptops & phones be different? It must be your phone & laptop. I will hold up my hand if others come back & agree with you.

You didn't say they were in the wrong order, you said they needed rotating.
To me that means they were on their side or something.
They are in the wrong order, yes , but I just open them in new tabs anyway so they are bigger & look at each in turn.

    Hi members,

I've digging around and I came across this photo which got me wondering if there was any photos Edwin may have been and how I may go about finding them please?

Not sure has to how you came about the above photo? Its a splendid picture. I really do think it will be near on impossible to find a picture of Edwin.. Are you saying that your partner does not have a picture of him... (Its rather sad if that is the case?) I came across a photo of my Grandfather some time back that the family had not seen before. It was in a book that a chap had written about his Dad's Regiment that my Grandfather also served in.. The above photo is not in the History of the 58th Foot.

    Regards,
    Stu..

    Evening Stu,
It is a fantastic photo isn't it, I can not take credit as I found it on a comment (see quote) but I couldn't not save it either as it's just brilliant to see the battalion line up in its entirety which got me wondering if there where any for the years Edwin served or if they may be some of Edwin and friends floating around the net - we do have a couple of photos I have saved from a comment earlier in the thread, just curious :)
(see I joined the forum unaware my partners sister had previously posted,TD suggested I browsed the forums threads and see what others have posted in regards to the 5th & 2nd battalion, when I did so I found his sister's original thread and from there Owen was able to merge our 2 threads)

    Kind Regards
