Hi Guys, Information on the RAF Forward Repair Unit, 5 Motor Transport Base Depot and 151 Repair Unit seems hard to come by. My Grandfather served from June 1944 as follows - FRU - 26/06/1944 - 28/11/1944 5 MT Base Depot - 28/11/1944 - 20/02/1945 151 RU (A) - 20/02/1945 - 05/04/1946 5 MT Base Depot - 05/04/1946 I believe FRU landed in France sometime in Autumn 1944 and transferred personnel to form 5 MTBD in the November? Does anyone have any information as to the above units movements or any further reading about their role? Kind regards, Daniel.

Hello, my grandad was with FRU from May 1944 till October 1945 , I remember him saying he was in France, Belgium, Holland & Germany. I believe FRU was a detachment of 2nd tactical air force but don't know what they did I been trying to find out for a while but this is all I know. Steve
Do you have his service records ?? if not suggest you send off for them - forms in this link Request records of deceased service personnel and this is the ONLY place to obtain WW2 official service records from TD
Maybe if you can upload and post them for other members to read, they will sometimes read things differently or notice things we mortals miss TD
