In my opinion it looks ugly, half of this and half of that to me doesn't make a whole

The Royal Marines aren't a regiment.

I've no doubt it will infuriate many. The powers that be will call it ' modernisation of the armed services'.
I would call it a 'cost cutting measure'
    Graham.
Edited to add, ' armed services'

as Owen says Royal Marines are not a regiment... nor are they part of the Army, article also does not say they are unifying.

Or just an eye catching advert for the manufacturer.

Looks a complete mess to me.Cannot believe the MOD would allow such a mishmash. Its unbalanced and, I do wonder if it has been approved yet.

    to me the article reads
we like the 2 parts of the service so have produced a badge off our own bats

same as all the coin companies banging out commemoration coins and the like left right and centre

    This has made me smile.
A design company can maybe produce what it likes, but I can imagine how RM, Para & Commando acquaintances might feel about it.
What colour do you get if you blend Maroon & Green? (If memory of Aldershot & Pompey drinking serves: maybe 'Lumberjack shirts, desert boots & ribaldry/violence' has a RAL number...)

Wonder if the badges are copyrighted now?
    Hmmm. Must look that up.

Reminds me (loosely) of the 'Flying A' seen on car bonnets (Austins) in the 1950-60s. Terrible mishmash design.....(this badge and, for that matter, most Austins from that period most of which featured the well known 'rust lightening process').
