Hi, I can’t see him listed in the official copy of U.K. POW in German Hands (1944) that I have from UK National Archives. Are you sure he was taken POW in 1940 or is it a “fishing expedition”? Other members might be able to look for him in the U.K. Casualty lists available on FMP. If you have solid information that he was POW your best bet would be to apply to Swiss Red Cross for his POW records via this link - Requests for information about people held during Spanish Civil War or Second World War: Quarterly limit reached You need to check the site 8am GMT 20th January 2020 to see if the online application form is available - if not check every 15 minutes until it is available and then speedily complete and submit it as the application window closes within 2 hours of opening due to over subscription. You could also ask a forum member to check UK National Archives to see if he completed a Post Liberation Questionnaire on his return to UK. Good Luck Steve

Thanks Guy. Peter - as per my earlier post you need to co tact Red Cross. They will give you full chapter and verse on the camps he passed through. It takes over 4 months to get a reply back from Switzerland. Annoyingly you don’t get an electronic confirmation that your application form has been received. You just get an envelope containing the copy papers after 4 to 5 months. Steve

If you haven’t already got a copy of his army service papers you ought to apply to MOD via this link - Requests for personal data and service records: a detailed guide Steve PS It likely won’t have much information about his time as POW.
