    Additional Information: Son of Frank Leonard and Sara Turner Bothamley, of Boston.

    Enlisted in the Lincolnshire Regiment 30/4/1939. Service Number 4803298. Posted to OCTU Sandhurst. Discharged 28/11/1941.

    Cause of Death: Died in Hospital. Seriously wounded on manoeuvres in the South of England. He succumbed to his injuries early on Friday morning. Previously, he was R.Q.M.S. of 4th Lincolns and served in Norway and Iceland, before he was commissioned.

    Notes: The funeral of Second Lieutenant F. R. ("Rex") Bothamley, 26 years of age, of the Lincs Regt. Eldest son of Mrs. Sarah. T. and the late Mr. Frank Bothamley, of 72, Spilsby Road Boston, took place at Holy Trinity Church Boston, on Monday, and the interment followed in Trinity churchyard. Lieut. Bothamley, as reported in our last issue, was seriously wounded on manoeuvres in the South of England. He succumbed to his injuries early on Friday morning. An 'old boy' of Boston Grammar School, he was, before the war, employed as an under-manager at the West Lynn branch of Lincolnshire Canners Ltd. He leaves two brothers, Mr. M. W. Bothamley, transport manager at the Boston branch of Lincs Canners, Ltd, and Mr. G. W. Bothamley, who is on the staff of Messrs W. Sinclair and Son. Ltd., seed merchants, Boston, He was a member of the Territorials and served in Norway and Iceland, whence he returned to undergo training at Sandhurst for his commission which he received last December. He was formerly R.Q.M.S. in the Linc's Regt. A member of the Boston Rowing Club, He played full-back and later three-quarters for the Boston Rugby Club. Lieut. E. Hill, a colleague of deceased, and a former member of the Boston Rugby Club, represented the Colonel of Lieut. Bothamley's Regiment. Mr Hill before joining the Army was on the staff of Messrs May and Hassell, Ltd., Boston. The Vicar of Boston (Canon A. Cook officiated. The coffin was draped with a Union Jack.
