    Hi everyone

I'm new to WW2Talk and must say that I'm impressed by the volume of info being shared here.

Like many I'm trying to get clearer info around a family member's role.

My grandfather enlisted from the Reserves into the RAMC in 1940 and was assigned to # 1 CCS from 1940-1945. From his records (just received from the MOD) he appears to have served in North Africa and then possibly France.

However, I can't find any through normal google searches.

Anyone know the movements (places/dates) of 1CCS? Does it make sense that he would remain with 1CCS through the 4-5 years? Anything else that could be of interest on 1CCS also.

    Thanks in advance.

    Scott

Thanks TD. Appreciate the help. I won't make it to TNA as I'm in Australia but I'l follow your suggestion and contact those you included in your post.

I'm not sure if you know but if my grandfather was assigned to 1CCS for the entire period from 40-45 and from what I understand he served in Africa and did spend some time in Europe would that same 1CCS moved from one theatre to another?

I am afraid I done have that sort of knowledge - perhaps after your research you can tell us.

You can explore further here Discovery | The National Archives and search for example for 1 CCS

I have copies of the pages for August 43 and August 44 from WO 177/626 and would be happy to share if you get in contact. These were the periods when my father's records indicated he was treated by them. Main locations are recorded as Tunis, Campobasso and Macerata

If, over in Australia, you can get a copy of The Army Medical Services. Campaigns Volume 3 by FA Crew you will find 40 references to 1 CSS.

Hi, drop me a PM and from that, if you are happy, exchange emails and I'll send them via that method or put them on DropBox. Don't post your email address on the forum.
