    Nope
But only very few StuG III received them. And as the L/43 resp. L/48 were in a advanced stage (and far better suited) the production was soon abandoned.
That particular one is reportedly from 244. StuG Bataillon, showing Karl Pfreundtner receiving the Knights Cross 18. Sept. 1942 at Stalingrad

So first stated as a thing in the Catalog of Enemy Vehicles, then doubts raised at the ID, what, a decade or so ago?
What/where's the latest gen on it?
Newest I can see on the web is this:
    Fake Tanks

I've about stopped with newer Panzer books as the prices are getting even heftier for the good stuff & things keep changing as so many staring at detail.
Well, that, and we're finally getting more deep coverage of allied gear.

cross reference confirmes date and location. Then it´s too early for a StuH without muzzle brake. But there are also rumors the photo is retouched to reveal the existence of the L/43. In fact pictures with the interim are extremely scarce.
Some of the tanks depicted in your link above are kits built by this guy:

    Early 80s book.
Stuff like this makes my brain hurt, but I'll grab that chap's comments as it's a wiki & might be changed without noticing.

    And the Waffen Arsenal caption:

Maybe one to come back to/keep an eye out for. ;)

I'll have to ponder that nice COE but the 97 = 1937 on western calendar Kōki 2597

EDIT: You're right, of course, about the Japanese Harley clone. Theirs probably didn't leak oil though :)

Obviously a leading contender in the Ugliest Military Vehicle of the Year competition which would lead one to East Germany which seems to have specialised in this.

    No.

    Oh, alright.
    Look at its component parts.
    Perhaps particularly the cab.
I think they ought to remind people of something.

Cab over Humvee prototype. Production for Israel I think with a different body.

Oh Adam, you really shouldn't have.

    JEEP!

Nine vertical instead of seven, and that fuel tank. Hmmmmmm.

Please dear lord let me be wrong (again).

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

The Amish prototype wasn't as successful.

I think that's over the target.

1990 Cab Over Heavy Humvee Variant. COHHV/M998A4

Two prototypes with standard engines (one 6x6) & nine pre-production turbocharged made. Six to Aberdeen, at least one to the US Engineers Waterway Center, two to Belgium.

Exercise in commonality of parts with Humvee (but based on HH heavy vehicle scheme.)
    Project abandoned c.1995.

In terms of looks, in some strange way it reminds me of this horror vehicle. Without even knowing a vehicle’s performance (or in this case its complete absence), you can always tell it’s truly awful if you instinctively feel you are going to be embarrassed to be seen in it.
