    Pricilla Short , killed by a car crossing the road after getting off a bus at home on leave

    Edith J Price , murdered near the forest glen pavilion , Wellington

    11/5/43 multiple girls killed in their hostel by FW190s on a tip and run raid in Great Yarmouth

    Emily M P Pring , killed by a Truck in York street , Hanley

    Nora Coveny, killed by a bomb landing on her AA battery

    Lydia A Sligo , killed by MG fire from a training aircraft in Porthcawl. The A/G who killed her B J Hardesty was himself killed on ops 5 months later

    Agnes K H PHILLIPS, killed by a bus on Litchard Hill, Bridgend

    Lilian M Welch , found terribly injured on a road near Chichester having been knocked off her bike in a hit and run , despite having her head crushed , back broken and her ATS cap filled with brains , the driver , Private Thomas Flack , sexually assaulted her

    Dorothy Davies , murdered after a dance with a stone by a US Army soldier Michael Phiosh

    Enid M Simpson, murdered in the Anglo Swiss hotel Bournemouth by a US soldier

    Multiple losses in an aircraft loss on October 5 1945

    Diana Mary Gibson , killed when a van she was traveling in hit a truck in Bletchley

    M M Lloyd , collapsed and died of natural causes at ruddington

    Phyllis I Kent , stabbed by a US Air corps soldier in her billet in Exeter

    Jean Rutherford killed with sapper hadji constantini when hit on their bike by a hit and run car at bank bridge Tarleton

    Isabella green committed suicide by drinking disinfectant

    Mary E C Davies. Committed suicide on an electricity pylon following a rebuke for not saluting an ATS officer

    Ernesta G Sadler committed suicide by gas poisoning over health worries

    Vivienne B de Meric shot herself in the garden of her home at Bradford peverell following depressing over a tonsillitis operation

    Isabella Elliot , killed in a vehicle accident

    Marjorie O Sheridan died of influenza

    Florence M Steptoe killed in a vehicle accident between Brechin and Arbroath

    Agnes Tannanhill , killed by a car who’s driver was prosecuted whilst crossing the road at vicars cross , Tarvin

    Margaret Bradley died when the car she was driving hit a tractor near pynes cross , Crediton

    Kathleen Carr drowned herself and her new born child in a pond at Alton, staffordshire, after concealing her pregnancy

    Rosina T Oliver was found drowned in pontefract park lake

    Marjorie O Sheridan caught a chill whilst waiting in a corridor scantily clad awaiting a medical examination with 60 other girls and died as a result at queen ethelburgas camp, harrogate

    Eileen M Thomas was electrocuted by a faulty iron

    Marjorie W Anderson shot herself in her room at her mess in Northern Ireland

    Jean Coster fell backwards off a garden wall and broke her neck in Lincoln road , Peterborough . Not thinking herself injured she went to bed in her billet but died

    Dorothy J Keith died of meningitis

    Gertrude hardcastle drowned in the river Ouse in York

    Vivian beryl Jones died when her motorbike was hit by a truck at Hoole

    Ivy Anne Harewood died of natural causes in hospital after a short illness

    Agatha m Speechly died of heart failure after accident that overdosing-on her asthma medication in Plymouth

    Francis N Dunn was shot by a soldier, Robert Smith with a rifle at Weston hall ATS hostel , Stafford

    Ruby Dixon , died in a vehicle accident in Vienna when a car she was driving hit a tree and overturned

    Bryanwy H Morgan died of a cocaine nasal spray allergy during an operation at moston military hospital

    Josephine Ashton was murdered by an African army driver on the way to collect other ATS girls, her body being found in the ngong river near Nairobi

    Margaret Dowey’s body was found drowned in the lake at castle Ashby after she failed to return to camp

    Ethel M Smith collapsed and died of heart failure whilst running to her post during an alert

    Marjorie E Meek fell from the cliffs at Beachy Head

    Mary Bell died of natural causes in York military hospital

    Ethel Carroll died in hospital of natural causes

    Very interesting reading Jon, but it just doesn't feel right to "like" such a sad couple of post - with ones like this a "thank" would seem more appropriate.

    Helen Mogg died of natural causes in a military hospital

    Shiela Holden died of typhoid in purdysburn hospital

    Esta L Dixon died of natural causes in Bangor hospital

    Daphne V Redgrave died when her motorcycle collided with a GPO van in canal street , derby

    Jean Dennys died in an unspecified accident

    Winifred D Cunningham died of a fractured skull in Padua following a traffic accident

    Edith F Funnel was run over by a reversing truck as she jumped from the tailgate when she realized she’d bosrded the wrong truck after a dance at Pirbright

    Alice Clark died in hospital following a short illness. She had been buried in the debris of a bombed house during the London blitz

    D F Smith died with her passenger lt Col C J Hogbin when her car collided with an army truck at Hornsea

    Olga H V M Mayne died in the Leicester Royal infirmary of complications following a surgical operation

    Helen M McRae was badly injured in a fall at a dance and was then dropped off a stretcher over a banister when inexperienced stretcher bearers were carrying her

    Isabella R Stewart was killed by bombing

    Mollie Davies died in hospital of illness . The first welsh ATS girl to die

    Ellen C Hillman died of complications following a surgical operation in moretonhampstead hospital

    Ada O’keefe died in hospital in north wales of natural causes

    Olive F Reynolds , Brenda G Yeoman & Elizabeth E Lamb died in a truck crash at Staines

    Doris G Dickens was murdered in Cairo by a shot in the back

    Irene H Kent died of natural causes in Haslar Hospital

    Peggy Milligan died with major W turner in a car crash with a stationary truck at Sandiacre

    Eileen E Stimson died in st Mary’s hospital London following an illegal abortion

    Francis Wrape collapsed and died following an operation for lung cancer

    Madge E Hodkins died in a road accident , she had survived the Ilford rail disaster

    Elsie M Herbert was killed with 4 soldiers in an explosion at Ramsden Hall. Billericay

    Betsy Gould was killed when an army truck she was driving overturned on a hill near Aldershot

    Kathleen M Kirby was killed at green mills , probus, when a Jeep driven by a US army officer hit a telegraph pole returning from a dance

    Ethel Fry was killed at her gun site during an air raid

    Kathleen M Reynolds , marguerite A Croft , Louisa J Kulke, Maisie R Hill, Dorothy I G Morrhall & Joan M Marshall were killed when a practice bomb accidentally fell from an aircraft on Salisbury plain

    Joan M Turner died in a vehicle accident in Glasgow

    Marie Barber & Gladys Cott died returning from a salute the soldier event when a truck overturned at Glarsdsle

    Violet M hookham died when run over by a ttruck in Reigate

    Jeanie C S Clunie was killed by a V2

    M A Hartler was killed by a bus on Leeds road , Bradford

    Cecilia M Read was killed in a vehicle accident near Frimley

    Kathleen O Jennings was hit by a car walking in the road at Ryton on dinsmore

    Maisie R Hill was killed in a collision between s US army keep she’d been given a lift in and a parked truck at Thornhaugh

    Olive J Moore was killed in a vehicle accident when run over walking to her billet from the cinema

    Josephine Rayner was murdered with an axe by her husband D G Rayner of pioneer corps

    Madeline L Baker was killed in an air raid

    Isabella M Oliver was killed in an air raid

    Rossmary Courtney & Marjorie A Ball we’re killed with 2 US soldiers when a Jeep hit a bus near Chichester

    Joan Wright committed suicide by aminos poisoning

    Alice temple was killed in a vehicle accident

    Joan W Hickox died in a vehicle accident

    Liddell, Norris , rose , E M Smith . Goodfellow & C Carter were killed in a level crossing accident

    Jennie mcKeown was killed under the locomotive tender in the Gretna rail crash

    Sheila Brady died of burns sustained in the recreation room of her billet in Nottingham when her dressing gown caught fire

    Vera a Hobson fell from the rear of a van at cribbs causeway dying in Bristol Royal infirmary of a fractured skull

    Edna Durrant was shot at kedelston hall by private jack Wilkinson when he was playing with a revolver dying in Derbyshire Royal infirmary

    Barbara G green was killed in an air raid in London

    Ethel Clark committed suicide under a train near Reigate

    Betty prince fell from a train between bicester & oxford when the door opened as she leant on it

    I have 7 local women who died whilst serving in the ATS. Might you be able to find their cause of death?

    Joan Anna Nobbs (buried in Chester (Blacon) Cemetery

    Winifred May Over (buried in Cleethorpes Cemetery)

    Given the size of the Auxiliary Territorial Service or ATS in WW2 (Wiki refers to 190k by 1945) this is a quite small list and oddly in my view none shown here were killed in industrial accidents, e.g. accidents whilst working on explosives. My mother served in the ATS at an ordnance depot near Nottingham, and I have a vague recollection of her mentioning some of colleagues dying at an ordnance factory.

    I don’t know tbh . I’m going through my list of deaths and causes for another project and as I find an ATS one I have I’ve put it here . It’s not a filing system sorry just a huge pile of scribbled notes made over 30 years from a million sources

    According to the CWGC database, there were 692 ATS girls who lost their lives during the dates of the War in Europe. A further 276 died between 8 May 1945 and the last date of acceptance by the CWGC which was 31 December 1947.

    Violet E Akehurst . Aged 16, the youngest female forces death of WW2 died of meningitis in bath hospital

    Nora Stanley came off her motorcycle in Felstead Essex and died of head injuries

    Margaret E Gilland was killed by a truck on the leatherhead by pass

    Vera Martin was killed in a railway derailment accident . Her sister . Also in the ATS , survived

    Vera Adams died of natural causes in Leicester Royal infirmary

    Joan Johnson died of TB in chandlers ford Sanatorium

    Helena Richardson crashes into a truck at bracknell whilst driving captain philips RE who survived

    Lillian leppard died of natural causes in Windsor hospital

    Margaret Goss collapsed in the road , then was run over by a bus at Chilham, she’d been receiving treatment for severe migraines and it was believed one may have rendered her unconscious

    Lilian C Bigood was run over by a 50 ton tank transporter near slough

    Newspapers report that he was found not guilty of murder but guilty of manslaughter and sentenced to 7 years.
    The sexual assault allegations look to have been put forward by the prosecution but he was not tried for these. Presumably there was no evidence.
