Hi all, I have a great coat with these shoulder boards - could anyone shed any light on the purple stripes?
One other question I have, will this be ok to wear out in public with the shoulder boards in place. Ultimately I don’t want to upset anyone.
A quick search found this: Link: Uniforms Act 1894 Note this is an Act from 1894. A 2017 FOI request was made to the MoD and they too cited this Act: Wearing of Uniform by Retired Personnel - a Freedom of Information request to Ministry of Defence Yes there is a slight risk of encountering opposition, especially if worn in public at an official ceremony, e.g. Remembrance Sunday. Just the coat at other times will probably elicit looks and as it is a heavy garment you will know it!
Thanks, I think the best plan will be to remove the shoulder boards as I’d like to wear it over the winter (it’s a damn warm coat) and don’t fancy a run in with anyone over it.
