I'm afraid to count....as it may be used against me in the divorce proceedings the actual number may inspire.
The smaller higglety-pigglety ones look like this (there's a second row behind the first in places). Edit: some non-military has sneaked in there.
My wife found them. Made by a Korean company called Design Ventures. 콜린스빈티지 3단+5단 책장&장식장 > Collens vintage | Design Ventures 디자인벤처스 They look nice, but more importantly the humidity in Korea can be significant in the summer (though not this year, mercifully) and moisture does not mix with old books well. They're hardly airtight, but the doors help a fair bit.
Smiled at the Warhammer & Cthulhu.. Glancing at mine this afternoon, wondering if nostalgia contained within. May have to pull them out later. Flicking back through the thread. Nice to see Alanbrooke's diaries seem to crop up quite often, & Kershaw's Hitlers. Core texts
Well spotted. I did actually run a Call of Cthulhu adventure over Skype (and three continents) during the lockdown with the Old School Mob. I'd expected bamboo43 to have clocked the sole cricket book there by now. I'd read Images of War, the Marshall Cavendish The Falkland War part-work series and some books about the Falklands and the S.A.S. when I was younger, but my 'grown up' interest in the Second World War started with Alanbrooke's diaries and Stephen Bungay's The Most Dangerous Enemy. I note also that we, collectively, have a significant tonnage of After the Battle: Then and Now books on our shelves.
I noticed your copy of The Regiments Depart by Gregory Blaxland. I've been looking for a (reasonably priced) copy for decades. I should have stolen the copy from the library when I was a teenager.
I took a good while to find one and it's a bit foxed on top. The book to the right of that one, Withdrawal From Empire, covers much of the same material in terms of narrative, but it doesn't have as many facts, dates and figures. This is the author: William Jackson (British Army officer) - Wikipedia
Bit slow CF apologies. Nice single addition, a great man manager and tactician. I must get around to photographing my shelves, although a bit of a one trick pony as you might imagine.
Just seen what you've written about the book Mum gave you. That is so lovely. I'll show her this and invest see her. X
Revisiting I have undergone a minor extension, some stuff moved around and what MP would say is not really space-saving. using "library Thing" as an online cataloguing service, at last count 1644.
I have my books catalogued there, also. Do you mind showing us your account name here? Mine is Slipdigit.
Here’s mine - basement library. I wish it was this tidy right now. I have stuff scattered all over the house…
Looking at all those beautiful bookcases, mine does not look very impressive. Sill very proud on my small collection of Burma related books.
