I've only seen one FC 'in the wild'. I was about five and thought it was about the coolest vehicle ever. I think that moment might have cause my affliction.

Starter crank hole in front bumper. VWs had them too but I've never seen either one being crank started. Probably easier to just push start them if battery died, I guess.

That video led to this one. Were there really any bug bodied VWs in the Africa Corps?

Typ 87 Kommandeurswagen, basically a 4x4 VW Schwimmwagen with Beetle body. But I don't know any provable picture source

I didn't know that the Jeeps built by Ford had the Ford script on the back. I thought that the parts were just marked with a F.

    Hello Dave,

Any chance that's a re-pop rear bucket, or an original that's had the Ford logo added in (pressed and/or a plate welded in maybe)?

I've never seen that before in a wartime model, but that doesn't mean it ain't necessarily so!

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

This is the marking I've seen previously, which I guess is what you've been used to too Dave.

Saw this one with a PTO capstan winch. This jeep didn't originally have one but the owner said it was new/old stock that was available during WWII.

Egan decided to leave college, and enlisted with the US Army, entering basic training in March 1969,[2] and eventually serving in Vietnam. Characteristically, he later described a Jeep he had that the Viet Cong hit with a mortar shell as "the only non-English vehicle I ever drove that exploded."[3]

Given the weight of a jeep, you have to wonder at the utility of it for anything other than dragging out the machine itself.

    Lordy, they're not cheap.
