1947 061 Late Payment from the Army.

Many months after being demobbed I received a Postal Order for Six Shillings and Four Pence (Pre-Decimal Coinage) as ration allowance for picking up a Army prisoner from Lincoln Jail.

I was amused to receive the sum of Six Shillings and Four Pence from the War Office six months after I received my Army discharge. It was for two days ration allowance for escorting a prisoner from Lincoln Jail back to his unit !
