      3 Vickers – 1930’s manoeuvres

One of my grandfathers pictures of 1930s manoeuvres. Double exposed.

I was thinking of just calling this 2 for the price of 1 but then I saw what I think is a third Vickers just in the background, lower left-hand-side, almost lost in the detail.

My grandfather is the chap at the back, third from the left (2nd from the right ;-) in profile, looking to his left – he’s probably in the group at the front also, but I’m not 100% sure which one, as they are slightly harder to make out.

There are three Vicker's Mediums in 'line ahead' formation and the one sideways on. A nice large tactical sign visible on the foreground tank - possibly 'A' Company or then again not as there were a variety of tactical signs used on medium tanks, especially in the mid 1930s. An excellent picture displaying the perils of non-digital photography. Which regiment was your Grandfather in?

This was taken, possibly circa 1930, when he was, I guess, in the 3rd or 4th RTC. If so it was possibly at an RTC gunnery shoot nr. Binden Hill (close to Bovington) or Ludgershall camp maneuvers (nr. Salisbury), I think, perhaps.
