Battalion was then placed in 'suspended animation'. All men were posted to other units, having made special arrangements to have all the Regular Royal Scots posted to with the 2nd Battalion The Royal Scots then in the Middle East. The Colours were returned to Edinburgh with an appropriate escort, to be received on their arrival by the Lord Provost at a Reception in the Edinburgh City Chambers.  Officers Mess Silver returned with the Colour Party to the Regimental Depot, then at Glencorse, Penicuik. With the Quartermaster returned all G1098 Vehicles, Weapons, Ammunition and General Stores to the appropriate depots. Later in 1946, the 7th/9th (Highlanders) Battalion resumed its place as a Territorial Battalion based on its Drill Hall in East Claremont Street, Edinburgh. The last few months of my War-time Service was served as a Staff Captain at GHQ Rhine Army, 2nd Echelon, posting Corps Troops as reinforcements to formations within the Rhine Army. Joe Brown.
