Unknown Major, Royal Engineers. The fact that he is bearded would suggest that he has been away from civilised conditions for some time. The rear of the photograph would suggest that this is an official, censored photograph. Update: 25th February 2016. Whilst perusing the RAF museum's online photograph collection I came across the same image captioned: Major T.W. Robinson R.E. A member of the second Wingate expedition. It would appear to be 117033 Captain (T/Major) Jacob Walter Robinson who served with Bernard Fergusson in 16th Brigade during Operation Thursday.
