No i have no idea where they were during the war and anything you would pass on to me would be great, You are so lucky to have all of this memorabilia from your grandads war service. They only thing i have relating to my grandads service is 1 photo and nothing else. Do you have your grandads medals, mine never wanted his.

I've scanned the pics from the magazine but can't get them to upload here, I must either be doing something wrong or haven't the privileges so here's a link instead.

    Hi Donnie,
As a low print run 40s publication not many remain, I was lucky enough to find one on ebay, but its probably worth trying specialist booksellers.
    Cheers

    Hello,
My Great uncle was in the F&F Yeo. in 1939-40. He was from Kirriemuir, in Angus. I'm not sure what squadron he was in. When His unit first went to France in 1940 they were part of the Highland Div, but were later replace because the Div Commander did not think them very efficeient! My Gt Uncle [Charles S Lyon] was wounded in 1940 and ''got away at Dunkirk'' He still had his rifle when he landed and some fellow asked him for it, so he handed it over. It was a few seconds later he came out of his daze and realised the man had been civilian. He never saw his rifle again.
Charles later served in the Parachute Regiment and then was commissioned into the Royal Scots. In the Early 50's he was a TA Captain in the Black Watch. He died in New Zealand in 1978.
If anyone has any information on the F&F Yeo regarding there time in France in 1940, i would like to hear from them, as I can't seem to find anything about them from this period.
    Regards,
    Stewart

That just left two infantry battalions -2 Glosters and 4 Ox and Bucks to defend Cassel-although they were to supported by tanks and Bren-gun carriers from 1st Light Armoured Reconnaissance Brigade, which included 1st Fife and Forfar Yeomanry and the 1st East Riding Yeomanry.

    page 365
Brigadier Charles Norman's force, consisting of the 1st Fife and Forfar Yeomanry's tanks and carriers, and the 1st Welsh Guards foot soldiers had been ordered to hold the line that ran from Bergues to West Cappel. It was clear that these two units , backed by 6th Green Howards, did not have enough men to hold this four-mile line securely, but Brigadier Norman was determined that they would at least delay any Germans who tried to reach the Poperinghe-Bergues road.

Quotes from above book would have originally been taken from here

HyperWar: The War in France and Flanders 1939–1940 [Chapter XIII]

In default of orders, General Thorne could not know how long the 48th Division was expected to maintain its extended position. Even if the garrisons of Soex, Wormhoudt, Cassel and Hazebrouck could hold out, enemy penetration between those places might seriously interfere with withdrawals taking place farther east. He appealed to General Headquarters for reinforcements, and Brigadier Norman's 1st Light Armoured Reconnaissance Brigade and the 1st Welsh Guards (both of whom had been sent the day before to strengthen the defences of Cassel) were put under his command, as were also the 6th Green Howards from Usherforce. Part of Brigadier Norman's brigade—the 1st East Riding Yeomanry—was left to help the 145th Brigade group at Cassel, but the rest, with the Welsh Guards, were moved north to hold the area Quaedypre, Vyfweg, West Cappel.[13]
