..... also anyone know how i can check these tinted safety goggles that i have , i have looked on the web and cant find anything, they have a blue tint to them and im assuming they are an anti glare for the flame at night maybe??????

 

Not sure that you can veiw them for free, this is the E-mail i recieved from them.

hi, i got some more stuff from my Grandads this w/e and i got the following

war office maps of europe

original prints showing the 79th Arm Div sweeping through europe and where units went

F&F Y listings of each town/village they went to inc dates

also a map of UK in German, not sure if this was captured ?

i will scan some in this week and type out the chronolical info unlesss you already know it??

No i have no idea where they were during the war and anything you would pass on to me would be great, You are so lucky to have all of this memorabilia from your grandads war service. They only thing i have relating to my grandads service is 1 photo and nothing else. Do you have your grandads medals, mine never wanted his.

As a low print run 40s publication not many remain, I was lucky enough to find one on ebay, but its probably worth trying specialist booksellers.

the group shot appears to be taken after the war due to bottles of wine imaybe and the 3 guys image shows my Grandad on the right.

 

Dont know much about these 3 images, i guess the action shot is a croc in training? i have a list of names on the back of 1 of these images which i will type out later

The first picture is propebly taken in Genk Waterschei in Belgium in the begining of 1945 .Do you have more pictures of this serie?

a painting illustrating the sweep into Europe of all 3 Sqdns plus HQ and acts as a war diary, this is a big print and i cant scan unfortunately.

also some little cards identifying insignia of other 79th Arm Div units.

Hello,
My Great uncle was in the F&F Yeo. in 1939-40. He was from Kirriemuir, in Angus. I'm not sure what squadron he was in. When His unit first went to France in 1940 they were part of the Highland Div, but were later replace because the Div Commander did not think them very efficeient! My Gt Uncle [Charles S Lyon] was wounded in 1940 and ''got away at Dunkirk'' He still had his rifle when he landed and some fellow asked him for it, so he handed it over. It was a few seconds later he came out of his daze and realised the man had been civilian. He never saw his rifle again.
Charles later served in the Parachute Regiment and then was commissioned into the Royal Scots. In the Early 50's he was a TA Captain in the Black Watch. He died in New Zealand in 1978.
If anyone has any information on the F&F Yeo regarding there time in France in 1940, i would like to hear from them, as I can't seem to find anything about them from this period.

Yes he does mate, unfortunately i have the names on the back of this phot and there is no Newitt listed.

I literally need a magnifying glass to read the writing and i will update my post with names, i do know it was taken in a place called Neuen Kirchen 1946

 

also im sure there is no issues around using any of the images your on your site, hope they help mate

i will get the war diary in about 1 week maybe 2. I am going to bovington..is there any pics of the tank that yours and my grandad fought in i would be happy to take some.
