At about 2030 hours on 20th March 1969 Viet Cong Sappers penetrated the tank farm at Qui Nhon and set it ablaze.

 

The oil tank farm fire rages out of control as firemen arrive to fight the fire and save whatever fuel they could.

 

A fireman battles the fury of the oil fire.

 

The oil fire travels down a hill to conexe container full of supplies.

 

Eventually the 84th Engineer Battalion built a dirt berm that halted the onslaught of the fire.
