These still get an outing a couple of times a month, but not bad for a pair of 52 year old boots: Resoled at least 6 times.
When it comes down to it, I'm a real fan of Haix boots. They make my everyday HiTec look like trainers.
Lundhags used to be sought after once. Some years ago whilst visiting the Museum of Military life in Carlisle, I noted that the Redcoat in the display was shod with shoes which - I presume - could be worn on either foot, until worn in: and wondered what these would be like. Some did 40 miles in a day in them, so they must have been reasonably serviceable. Out of curiosity for the thread, I looked to see if a Japanese tabi hiking boot variant was available - I had seen my son-in-law wearing socks like these: for long distance running events - and they are, but not for me. I have a friend who swears by LL Bean Maine hunting boots for just about everything.

Had Merrell walking shoes and they didn't last three months and neither did the replacements they provided me with. I have a pair of Meindls for serious walking and a pair of Altbergs (ex Army) which I really like.
I have had a paid of scarpa GTX for years and years, and wear them a lot - never let me down and still keep my feet dry to this day - not cheap but they last for ever. I have worn them all over multiple countries for multiples years. Spend once and all that. Full grain leather uppers
