Three December 1944 mystery deaths ?

Discussion in 'NW Europe' started by ResearchingResearching, Feb 4, 2023.

  1. On 12 Dec 1944 three men serving with the Royal Artillery died and are now commemorated on the Brookwood Memorial as they have no known graves.

1456606 L/Bdr William Aiken - Royal Artillery 8th HAA Regt RA
1512260 Pte Daniel Arthur Rhead - Royal Artillery 8th HAA Regt RA
1073923 Pte John Mathew Parry - Army Catering Corps 21 Ant--Tank Regt RA

I believe that the two 8th HAA lads were thought to have been lost at sea so that would explain the lack of a grave however I cant find any trace of Parry.

    Please can anybody advise ?
    Thank you
    RR

I cant understand how Parry can be on CWGC records but not on the casualty lists ?

I was digging into some KOSB deaths and noticed a few weren't on casualty lists and also have a couple of bits where they were wounded but aren't included on the list - it doesn't seem common but did happen, also with searches I have seen a few transcription errors
