Hi Lee Yes, had I known and taken my laptop with me.... oh well worse things will happen but a bit frustrated. Maybe next time. I am trying to trace an individual (Sgt LC Martin 910247) who was with them in Sept/October 1942 so thought I would see if he got a mention in any of the crews.
There is a new digital preview option available for RAF ORB's in AIR27 in the UK National Archives Discovery Database (AIR27 is operational Squadrons, not OTU's, not training units, not Groups, Wings stations etc, just Squadrons) I put together a little guide from my experience of using them. http://www.ww2irishaviation.com/TNA_...guidelines.pdf They have a text water mark still but I've provided a few examples of what you might find. __________________ regards Dennis Burke Foreign Aircraft in Ireland 1939-1945 http://www.ww2irishaviation.com
Does anyone know if you can still access the original RAF squadron ORBs? I'm looking for the ORB of 30 Sqn RAF (Hurricanes in Ceylon) for April 1942 but they seem strangely not to be available on line. They appear to jump from March 1942 straight to March 1943. As you can see here:- One to ask about next time at Kew I suppose. By the way, I found that you can download ORBs at Kew onto their computers and then e-mail them home for free. Saves using their wifi so probably quicker overall. Regards Tom
