The National Library of Scotland (NLS) has recently released a collection of Monthly Army Lists which includes the years 1937-1940, for the British Army These may be read online or downloaded, and there is a Search facility. Transcriptions are also available if required. http://digital.nls.uk/102697258 The Monthly Lists join the existing collection of Half Yearly and Quarterly Lists. During WW1 the Monthly Lists were the only Lists which included temporary and territorial officers, but I don't know if this also applies for WW2. Cheers Maureen
Thanks for the posting. I have been trying to locate a copy of the August 1939 Army List since I saw it over thirty years ago. It includes the last order of battle listing before the start of WWII.
Upon checking, the September 1939 List contains a complete order of battle to 25 August 1939. My copy does not. Looking at the August 1939 (two versions shown), they must have published two versions, one with and one without the order of battle.
It appears that order of battle details ended with the October 1939 Monthly Army List since the war had begun.
