Hi Everyone, I'm Lori, and I'm the daughter of an 89 year old veteran. I've recently come to realize how little I know about this war and my father's service. My goal is to fix that. I will no doubt read way more than post! I look forward to both learning from all of you and getting to know you.
Thank you so much. And that's what I figured. Also, if anyone is on Civil War Talk, you might recognize me from there as well. (Don't hold it against me! Ha.)
Thank you so much! Ha ha...sorry about that. I should have written the American Civil War. If pressed to pick now, I would have to go with Parliament, but I must admit that I know very little about England's civil war.
Welcome to the forum Lori from the other side of the huge pond. Hope you enjoy the good company here.
Thank you. I was just in Rockford a couple of weeks ago for a WW2 reenactment. It was the first time I've ever seen a tank fire in person!
No need to say 'sorry'....I was just being the sort of supercilious Englishman that Chuck Yeager so dislikes ! The trouble with favouring Parliament is that as in WW2, the other lot had the nicest clothes !
Dad sailed to Normandy (he was a Sherman tank driver in the 24th Lancers, British 8th Armoured Brigade) in LST229 which was built in Seneca Illinois. My wife is currently visiting her relations in Rockford. Small World.
I was remiss in not welcoming you earlier Lori Ann but you seem to be fitting in well. Hope you enjoy the experience.
