Need Help with Service Record Search

I think that the requirement is proof of death, not necessarily a Death Certificate, although that is the most commonly produced. When I was having difficulty locating one, it was suggested that a headstone photograph might suffice.

 

Confirmation, or as close to as we can get, that the above is correct.

I emailed a few images across to my Canadian relatives of various Royal Irish cap badges and they're sure it is the 8th Bn Kings Regt with the shamrocks etc. - the tattoo that is.
