Hello all, this is my first post here. A friend of a friend is trying to find her Dad, first name is Herbert, or any information about him. He might have been killed, wounded or survived without a scratch. He last had contact with her mother in Gent 1944/5 and after a romance, she the daughter is the result, now aged 71. Does anyone on here have any ideas on this please? Regards, Bob.
Hi Bob Welcome Would have thought your friends friend would do well to start their search here - Looking for Canadian Forces Member Military Service records? You may need more that just a first name though TD
Hello Bob. Welcome to WW2talk. That is a heck of a task. Is it possible to post a bigger picture of the two Canadians? So that we can see badges and insignias clearer. Then members will be able to determine which regiment he was with and be able to say where they were at a given time. Has the lady in question, her birth certificate as it might name her father. Her date of birth would also help. Information on her mother would be valuable. ie her nationality, was she in the services, etc. If not already done so, might be an idea to contact this site. Home
Thank you all for your replies. I will try and get you more information and bigger pics. Regards, Bob.
Someone's sure to recognise his photo soon. Augusta Ryckoort. She lived in Eeklo and worked in Gent Belgium. The Search For Herbert, A Canadian Soldier
Apparently she has been able to find out who her father was, although he is now deceased. Florence (71) vindt haar Canadese vader (maar hij is overleden) Do you recognize this Canadian WWII soldier? Belgian woman makes final push to find her father
Thank you Rich. I have been unable to get in contact with Florence again. Looks as though it is solved for her now. With regards, Bob.
