    Hi Andy,

I'm after my father's war diaries,1939-1946.As I mentioned before he was a driver in the rasc (T251275) and was in various coys. The writing on his service records is very difficult to read.A professional like yourself would find it easy.I would very much like you to see them, and see what you could find out.How do I get his service records to you? quite happy to send via royal mail,
Absolutely love the website, and the members friendliness. When I get used to the do's and dont's on this website,(still trying to find my way around) I will post some intresting stories about my farther.
Many thanks for your patience, regards Graham.

    More great work from Andy.

I ordered the two 'Missing Men' files for 1/4 Essex: one absolutely useless, one very good and full of detail.

    Many thanks once again.

    Hi Xavier

That file is on microfilm so I can't copy it as I only photograph the pages from original documents.

    Regards
    Andy

I am after particular information on the Tank recovery and Royal Engineers in the Battle for Tunis April 1943, plus medical records of a particular serviceman who D.O.W 24APR1943.

I am also researching my Grandfaters records from WWI of Scottish regiments, including these periods:
1914-09-06: Enlisted at the Unionist Office, Princess Street for Royal Field Artillery. Arrived Glasgow at the regimental barracks on the 9th September. Serial# 15102
1914-09-09: Royal Scots Greys Private 2nd Dragoons [Dunbar, York & Western Front]
1915-12-05, 2nd Dragoons [Made 2nd Lt. at St. Omer, France]
1916-09 [SEP]: Awarded Military Cross, Martinpuich, Somme, France
1916: 45th Infantry Brigade, 11th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders [East Africa]
    1916-07 [JULY/AUG]: 2nd Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders
    1917: 6th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders.
1917: 47th, Kings African Rifles [East Africa]

I have his complete WWI war diaries [posting on Facebook under his name] and he notes that while in the trenches on the front line as a 2Lt. he was was constantly writing reports almost every day. I am hoping these reports may still exist.

    and his WWII regiment
1942: Calcutta Light Horse, Calcutta Scottish [India]. Does anyone know if the Calcutta Scottish veterans received a service medal?

    Can anyone assist?

    Hi Andy
Just a quick message to say thanks for sending the DVD so promptly. It arrived the next day, Friday. I've already found direct reference to the gun troop my father in law was in and their part in the action during operation jupiter, hill 112. I know now that they landed at Juno beach and have several place names to follow up.... and they have only been in France 3 weeks up to now! So plenty to keep me busy!

    Thanks again
    Cari

    Hi Andy
You kindly accessed a series of service records last year for my fathers time in Heavy Anti-aircraft batteries. They have been invaluable. Do you ever get chance to look at other records?. My dear Uncle was in the Merchant Navy during the conflict and served all over the place, including being sunk. I've found that Kew has his records:
    BT 372/306/9 - R220367 (Discharge A numbers R220361 - R220547) Bowen R.J. 10/11/9120, Blaenavon, Monmouthshire.
Please let me know if this is possible?
    Best wishes
    Rob Vaughan

I've had Andy copy a ton of material since the tail end of last year and there have been a few gems. If you've already stockpiled all the Unit War Diaries for your project, might I recommend fishing the waters of the CAB-106, WO-201 or WO-204?
Lots of reports, monographs, plans and appraisals: you might strike gold.

    An excellent service as ever.
