    Introduction
As per user name, born in London Clinic where Liz Taylor had some surgeries, England, in WW II, went to Harrow School and could apply to be a British citizen in U.K., which is beautiful. But first I lived the fun life in the U.S. cheering my 2 colleges in football (both teams are in the Rose Bowl on Jan 2, '17) for 30 years before being recalled by (late) Mom, Mani, to take care of our lands in Bangkok.
I want to state that my proud hero is my Dad, Prince Chirasakti Suprabhat, nickname "Jerry", a pilot of the ATA unit of the RAF. Jerry was a terrific pilot, going "solo" in 6hrs flying training, and sacrificed his life in active service for the Allies of Great Britain and the United States of America in 1942. Jerry was the grandson of Thai King Rama IV, whose role of Yul Brynner's portrayal in The King and I netted him 2 Tony's and 1 Academy awards; and importantly also was the adopted only son of the last absolute/first constitutional King Rama VII. Sadly we just lost the world longest reigning monarch King Rama IX, but now happily have proclaimed King Rama X.
For 25 years, I've developed many real estate projects such as condos, offices and resorts, and own the Renaissance Bangkok Hotel. If your travels ever take you to Bangkok, contact me through the General Manager on marriott.com.

Flight Sergeant Moheddeen Abdul Ghias Howsan (known as Bob) was born in 1920, the eldest son of Mr and Mrs Fred Madeen Howsan (second eldest child of Howsan&Tye) of Mt. Gravatt, Brisbane, and the grandson of the first Muslim to settle in the Mt. Gravatt area of Brisbane. He was educated at Buranda Boys’ School and the Brisbane Boys’ Grammar School. After the outbreak of World War Two he joined the Royal Australian Air Force on the 19th of July 1940 and left Australia in April 1941 for training in Canada, before going to England. (His younger brother HAMID ABE HOWSAN also joined the RAAF and survived the war.)

After arriving in England he was posted to Wellesbourne, Warwickshire where his first flight in a Wellington was on the 8th of August 1941. He flew as 2nd pilot on raids over Germany and then, on the 22nd January 1942, he was made Captain of his own aircraft (pictured – A photographic shoot - Not his crew).
His operations included – Austend, Dunkirk, Emden, Bremmen, Le Havre, Cologne, Essen, Lubech, Wysse and Poissy.

Flight Sergeant Moheddeen Abdul Ghias (Bob) Howsan lost his life when the plane he was piloting was shot down in France on 1st April 1942. All but one of the crew were killed. Before the plane crashed Sergeant Howsan steered the stricken aircraft away from the French village of Marly-le-Roi, near Versailles, to avoid any civilian casualties. (See survivor statement below) In 1994 the citizens of Marly-le-Roi unveiled a memorial honouring the fallen airmen for their bravery.

    Taken from crescentsofbrisbane.org

They took off according to the sole survivor, Burgoyne, dropped their bombs from a low altitude. But as the Wellington turned for home it was hit by German anti-aircraft fire.

Writing to Howsan's mother after the war – HIS EARLIER LETTER TELLING HER OF THE NEWS OF HOW HER SON DIED APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN CONFISCATED BY THE BRITISH CENSORS –
BURGOYNE TELLS HER OF HOW THE AIRCRAFT CAUGHT FIRE:

Burgoyne reported it to Howsan and then concentrated on battling the flames. Soon his parachute caught fire and, as he went forward again to report that the situation appeared hopeless he was catapulted out of the aircraft through the open hatch.

He managed to open what was left of his burned chute and was lucky to land on a tree that broke his fall. From there he watched in horror as Howsan guided the fireball away from the village of tiny houses, church and school until, safely over a park, the aircraft crashed in a ball of flame.

A few years ago, the deputy mayor of Marly-le- Roi, Patrick Gautier, said "There is no doubt that these young men did everything they could right up to the last moment, to avoid falling on the village."

Those in Mary-Le-Roi who still recall the event, tell how the outline of one body was imprinted in the ground and on the morning of April 2, a small procession of villagers laid bunches of violets in the poignant silhouette until ordered from the scene by the German troops.

Burgoyne was captured, badly burned and injured, and spent the rest of the war in a PoW camp.

The Germans arranged a military funeral for the crew whose final resting place was the local cemetery - Les Gonards de Versailles.

Despite the years that have passed, the towns-people never forgot the bravery displayed by the crew and on November 11, 1994 a memorial to them was unveiled."

Delighted to find this photo of my Dad's cousin. I was planning to go to Runnymead where he is commemorated and thought I would do a bit of research first! I'm quite sure Dad has never seen this. He'll be fascinated. Ronnie and his parents had emigrated to Canada so Dad never saw him as a young man. Can't help wondering where you found the photo?
