I have made a film on 'Hove Dump' as it is today and uploaded on youtube. Hove Dump was an Allied forward stores dump on the Gustav Line in 1944. It was situated in a gully below Portella, on the eastern edge of the Rapido valley just north of Cassino. Formed sometime after Monte Belvedere was captured by the French in January 1944 and was used until the eventual breakthrough of the Gustav Line in May 1944. Stores came from the rear area, Pozzilli - Venafro to Viticuso - Acquafondata, then to Hove Dump via the North Road and the Inferno Track.

    George.

On Thu afternoon, I walked the bit between Portella and the Dump itself.

Impressive piece of Sapper construction work.

    Regards
