i am trying to get my head around how the ACC were involved with the 1st Battalion Parachute Regiment at Arnhem. Were they attached to HQ? Can anyone throw a light for me or recommend some reading material. Wondering how someone in the ACC would have carried out duties once dropped into Arnhem.
    Many thanks. Barb20

Hi Barb, Further to your post and my reply elsewhere, as a member of the 2nd Parachute Battalion he would have been part of the 1st Parachute Brigade (not Regiment).
The most comprehensive account of the battle is Martin Middlebrook's book Arnhem 1944 which I would recommend to anyone interested in a good overview of the battle. For a veterans account of the battle at the Bridge, try Arnhem Spearhead by James Sims. It was written not long after the battle, but gives a very evocative account of the battle. Good luck in your research Graham

    Hello Graham
I am totally confused by Divisions, Battalions, Regiments, Companies, Troops and so on and so you will have to excuse me!
I will most certainly look at those books.
I did respond to your previous remark made elsewhere by asking if your records show what Companies were fighting at the .Bridge?
