I cannot find this place on any maps, can you help with coordinates?

Can you explain what was happening for him to have died of wounds? - I can find no connection to Rome in 1930

I would guess as he has the rank of Commander that he would have been in Naval Intelligence

It also seems a long time between February when he died until May when he was cremated

Hi there thanks so much for your response this is a remarkable piece of military history that i am unable to unravel .However the fault lies with me as clearly i could have loaded more information on this elusive military commander and thus you may be able to pin him down additional information as follows and as it has been typed up by military intelligence as follows H.M.International secret service.Gresham house. Gresham st London E C 2 21 May 1930. Dear Madam i am requested by HIS MAJESTY KING GEORGE V and the LORD COMMANDERS OF H.M.SECRET SERVICE. to convey to you an expression of there sympathy and sincere regret at your loss.
EMILE JAQUES ASCHE died of wounds sustained on Feb 11th 1930 at REMO NAGIORE .Near ROME ITALY .His life was laid down in all honour, bravery, and glory in the name of patriotism and self sacrifice. For the freedom. honour .and supremacy of his country and for the peace of the world. He carried out his duties with the utmost bravery and success always for his country sake .Thinking only of the safety of those under his command.and regret and deep sympathy is felt for your own bereavement. A list of 50 officers who laid down there lives may be obtained at the above address..
it is signed by the governor general and the supreme chief of armed forces. COMMANDER EMILE ASCHE died of wounds sustained on the 11 feb, on may 14th 1930.spine paralysis settingg in and he was cremated in ROME on saturday 17th May. ( i have pointed out the most relevant parts of this original letter it would be a tragedy if some kind of recognition of this commander failed to surface in the annals of W W 2 history ) any help to identify this man military career would be truly appreciated.

Was there a battle or what happened for him to be wounded so badly??

Do you have the list of 50 officers? - and which address, the London or Remo address??

Do you have a death certificate for him?
Do you have knowledge of other members of his family?

I too have searched the web for information for this chap, and the dates etc and nothing significant comes forth.
So the only thing would be to see what you could find out in Italian liberty's.

Why? He died nine years prior to WW2.

As a note he doesn't show up in the casualty lists for the Royal Navy during this time period:
HMS Centaur, and other RN killed and died, 1918-1939

    I found this on Ancestry:

    Hello there
My name is Hartley James Connelly .Although i do not have any connection with the asche name i am doing some research on an intelligence agent in the second world war . His name was a commander emile jaques asche and being interested in the study of ephemera i came across an old letter dated 21.05/1930 on this officer and it is addressed to someone who clearly knew him by the name of m .taylor .It reads in part as follows .It is a request from king george v and the lords commanders of h.m.secret service in which it conveys the kings sympathy with regard to the loss of emile jaques asche after he was killed on feb 11th 1930 at remo nagiore near rome italy and is in fact an original commendation .I have tried researching this surname all to no avail .Do you know the origins of this surname? do you know of an ancestry links to it .or any possible d n a research . i am an ancestry member of many years so please be assured this is a most genuine enquiry . I f you can throw any light on this name /origins/dan/ etc i would be truly grateful . Regards h.j.c.

As has already been pointed out, Commander Asche was not involved in the Second World War as he was killed in 1930.
Furthermore, there is no such place as Remo Nagiore near Rome or anywhere else in Italy for that matter. What IS going on here, folks?

It seems rather a strange letter.

“dear madam.” The type of salutation used in a circular. If addressed to a particular person their name would be used.

“H.M.International secret service.” What organisation was this?

“lord commanders of h.m.secret service.” Who were they?

“signed by the governor general and the supreme chief of forces.” Was this one or two individuals? Governor-General of where? Supreme Chief of Forces, I haven’t heard of this appointment in a British context.

A scan of the letter posted on here may remove any doubts about its provenance or existence. My reservations may be entirely misplaced as Mr Connelly states, “i am an ancestry member of many years so please be assured this is a most genuine enquiry.” This reminds me of phrases used in Nigerian e-mails.

    Yours sceptically,

    Richard

    Hello there
Thanks for your response. Sadly i take offence to the nature of the comments .This is indeed a genuine enquiry .What in gods name do you mean by purporting this to be of NIGERIAN origin .I am an englishman of 76 years of age born in essex grew up in essex and have spent my whole life here in essex and very proud to have done so.My father being quartermaster sergeant in the Gordon Highlanders . Richard keep your spurious views and comments to yourself and don't direct the nature of what is a genuine query to defamatory allegations it is something i don't take kindly to. I have received some positive comments and i would genuinely like to thank any subscribers who have responded .
