Is anyone able to help ID what unit a Royal Marine served with , his name is James ( Jim) Robert Frankland he reached the rank of sergeant sorry to say I have no service number to help.
The only clues I have to his service are his medals 1939-45 star, Atlantic Star , France and Germany star, defence and war medal.
The only other information I have is a photo with the following on the back N.C .9 S.D.L course burnham on crouch HMS St Mathew jan 5th 1945 to march 3rd 1945.
    N.C.9 ? possibly non commissioned unit 9 ?

    Thanks for looking Tim
