    all

I have been given by a cousin my great uncles ww2 medals to be remounted with his recently issued arctic star

He also wants a Russian 40th medal and Malta gc 50th medal mounted into the group

I know these 2 go at the end but which one goes first?

    Regards

    James

With Foreign and other international awards, the order would normally be date as issued, but I have a feeling that the Malta GC, being both a Commonwealth presentation and commemorative, takes precedence over the Russian award.

Commonwealth does not enter into it. Foreign awards, where permission is given to accept and wear, go in the order of award. So the Russian 40th Medal (awarded 1985) preceeds the Malta GC 50th Anniversary Medal (1992). None of the other Russian commemorative medals (if awarded) should be mounted with a British medal group as they are not authorised for official wear..

Just re-looking at that web link it shows for order of wear and Commonwealth comes before Foreign in all cases:

Military awards and decorations of the United Kingdom - Wikipedia

All services use a common order of wear, the following general rules apply:[1]
The Victoria Cross and the George Cross
    United Kingdom Orders
    United Kingdom Decorations
Order of St John (all classes)
United Kingdom Medals for Gallantry and for Distinguished Service
United Kingdom Operational Service Medals (including authorised United Nations Medals and Medals of other recognised International Organisations). Worn in order of date of award
    United Kingdom Polar Medals
United Kingdom Police Medals for Valuable Service
United Kingdom Jubilee, Coronation and Durbar Medals
    Long Service and Efficiency Awards
Commonwealth Orders, Decorations and Medals instituted by the Sovereign. Worn in order of date of award.
Commonwealth Orders, Decorations and Medals instituted since 1949 otherwise than by the Sovereign (including those of the States of Malaysia and the State of Brunei). Worn in order of date of award.
Foreign Orders. If approved for wear, worn in order of date of award.
Foreign Decorations. If approved for wear, worn in order of date of award.
Foreign Medals. If approved for wear, worn in order of date of award.

    Seasons Greetings all.

I'll ask here as it came top of my search for order of wear. I'm putting together a frame for my
Grandfathers medals. Looking at it from left to right I have, 39-45 Star, Africa Star, Italy Star,
Defence Medal, War medal. He also has a Territorial Efficiency Medal, does this go on the left?

    Cheers

If you mean on the left hand side of the war medal i.e. it would be closest to the left arm - then yes

Military awards and decorations of the United Kingdom - Wikipedia

His war medals would be item 5, then the TE medal comes under item 9

    Thank you TD,

So just to make this clear in my head, the above order is correct, but it comes after, to the right of the War Medal?
    We're looking at a frame.

    Cheers
