    Hello all

I am trying to find out what my dad was doing in the war. He told us very little of his time in the forces, only that he spent the entire war on Gibraltar.
My brother and I were planning to go over there to see what he had been doing.
After receiving his service record we got a bit of a surprise. He was a bricklayer by trade at the onset of the war and joined 703 Artisan Works coy RE. He was on Gib but only until late 1943 when came back to the UK.
Attended a "Mines and Inst" course and promoted corp. Embarked for NWE in August 1944, stayed in Europe until demob in Dec 1945
    Research has thrown up 4 records WO 171 / 3279, 5624 , 1687 , and 7446
Don't know if any or all are relevant. A visit to Kew is on the cards but hoping someone may have knowledge of this unit and what it was doing.

    W H Riley service number 1989365

thanks in advance for any help or suggestions
