"Last chance" reminder for anyone wanting a gravestone photo from the above cemetery.

I posted previously on this thread: Youngest? but no-one has replied to date.

One caveat, I've no idea how much time I will have at the cemetery so, regrettably, no guarantees, but I will do my best.

Wishing you a smooth journey over the channel. May we know what prompted the trip across the channel?

You may well ask ! ..........

I've never done a river cruise before, but the route the trip was taking appealed in so many ways.

    1. It places me in Paris on my wedding anniversary and also takes in Giverny, both places that hold so many good memories for me.
    2. It includes the Bayeux Tapestries. which I have never previously seen.
    3. I get to visit the Normandy beaches (and I would remind you that I was a D-Day Dodger).

Throw in pretty easy access (Eurostar) plus the luxury of 7 days not having to bother about house chores..... I rest my case :)

    Graeme (et al)

My extreme apologies for my non-attendance at Ranville for reasons now divulged.

I'd gone on a Viking River cruise, starting on Sunday July 2nd, and the itinerary took in Paris, Giverney, Bayeaux, the Normandy beaches and Ranville CWC.

In a typical example of how "The best laid plans of mice and men gang oft aglay", on July the third, after a conducted tour of Paris, I became embarrassingly unwell and was whipped away to a local hospital where I languished for three days while they tried to establish what was causing my problems.

Fortunately and entirely thanks to my very capable offspring and their partners, I was collected yesterday and safely escorted back to the UK where happily all the medical staff speaks English :)

    Sorry Graeme !

    Ron

    Hi everyone

Just went on line and discovered a post under my name with the sole content of the word " UYU",

I may be a litle below par at the moment, but I certainly dont remember penning any such triviality so kindly ignore this cryptic posting.!

I do greatly appreciate your kind words and good wishes but hasten to say that I intend to be around to chivvy you all for many moons to come

I remain in close contact with my old friend Peter Ghiringhelli and when I recently spoke to him on Facetime to let him know of the reason for my unexpected return to the UK he quoted a lovely Roman proverb that went like this " If you wish to hear the Gods laugh, tell them of your plans"

 I'll admit to googling it. I'm glad it wasn't a new abbreviation I'd have to find the smilie for.

Thought I'd dot the *i*s on this thread with some good news, received a few days ago.

When I was taken ill (in July this year, whilst on a river cruise in France) the French medical staff advised me to see my GP back in England as soon as possible.

Through the wonders of the NHS I then underwent numerous scans and blood tests and the short story is that I was diagnosed as having Prostate Cancer with a silly high PSA reading of 910.0 !. By the way, the only advantage of having such a high reading is that a biopsy was not thereby required :)

As for the good news, at this week's check-up I was reliably informed that my PSA reading had dropped to 0.3 and that thereby my cancer was considered as "being in remission". For that news, of course, much thanks and so, pro-tem, you will probably continue to be subjected to my occasional offerings.

With many thanks for your concern as to my well-being

    Ron
