Interested to know the possible era, dates etc it could possibly be from?
Be great to track down any relatives of anyone in the photo`s.
I always enjoy picking up things like this for WW1 and WW2 and passing them on to any relatives found.

    A gem of a photo!
Did a little bit of research on Sgt CJ GIBBONS and only one comes up on Forces War Records:
T/5771415 Sgt Charles John GIBBONS RASC.
    DOB: 21 Apr 16.
Mother's details: Maud M GIBBONS, 6 Kaley St, Heacham, Norfolk.
    Military Service:
    Attested on 26 Apr 33.
Promoted to LCpl on 10 Jun 38.
Captured as a Cpl on 15 Feb 42 (Singapore).
    POW Camp: MALAI 4.
Casualty List No. 785: Reported as MISSING.
Casualty List No. 1243 (20 Sep 43): Reported as POW.
Casualty List No. 1876 (5 Oct 45): Reported as no longer POW.
On 14 Aug 51, Sgt CJ GIBBONS is awarded his Long Service and Good Conduct Medal. This would tie in nicely with the good conduct chevrons he is wearing on his right forearm too.

I would be pretty sure that the details above are for the man in the photo, sometime between 1945 and 1951.

    Enjoy!

    Hi Andy,

Sgt CJ Gibbons originally joined the Norfolk Regt and transferred to the RASC on 19th February 1935 - see attached. This would tie in as his mother's address is in Norfolk.

    H,

Thanks for sharing the document. Having visited Singapore and Changi; I can't even imagine what Charles Gibbons and all the other POWs went through, and then continued to serve into the 1950s!

Are there similar documents for those taken POW by the Germans/Italians? I am interested in soldiers from 14 Company RASC captured in North Africa around the end of June 1942.

    Regards

    James

I also recently researched a chap who was taken FEPOW in Singapore and survived 3 1/2 years as a prisoner..
    Amazing stories!

Just revisited this post and thought I'd look into a few more names:

CQMS WH Ford - Found a small snippet of info on his marriage to Gerda Isle Burchard in Hamburg on 5th November 1948.

Sgt GE Chaplin - Birth notice: On 11th December 1946, at Aldershot, Mary Chaplin gives birth to a son.

    Regards
