Could you please write a quick synopsis? I have found a reference to that book while reading about a trawler engaged in the repatriation of allied air crews from occupied Europe, but it might be about Q ships in general which isn't what I am looking for at the moment.
Hi Rorschach On Hazardous Service is one of a number of books by Hampshire that contain three or four separate true stories, the others being The Secret Navies and Undercover Sailors. On Hazardous Service contains four stories: The Suicide Squadron (about Q-Ships), The Saga of Force Viper (Royal Marines during the retreat from Burma), Night Run to Sweden (Operation Bridford) and Lifeline to Safety. I suspect the latter is the one you're interested in. It's 28 pages long and details the work carried out by His Majesty's Trawler Tarana, from her escape from France in 1940 to her deployment to Gibraltar in 1942 to rescue civilians and service personnel (from several nations) from the south coast of France. It's a fairly brief account but interesting. you can read a little more about it here. Cheers, Steve
Many thanks, and sorry about the late reply. The email telling me about it slipped past me somehow. Your suspicions are correct, I had just read an account of life in Gibraltar by the intelligence officer who coordinated the escape lines, the Tarana and her voyages were mentioned and I was looking for further reading. Thanks again.
